In Aragon is hidden a little and slow paradise with an Italian charme called Matarraña, a region full of treasures hidden between rivers, mountains, charming villages, fantastic accommodations and delicious flavors.


Matarraña is a region located in Bajo Aragon between Catalonia, Aragon and Valencia. It's hidden into the Maestrazgo and it has a Mediterranean influences. It's a nature area with unique corners like Matarraña River, especially when it goes through the village Beceite. This is one of the most beautiful towns in the Maestrazgo, surrounded by olive trees and mountains from the Iberian System. And if you want to deep into the historical roots of Matarraña you should visit Calaceite. Its historic center is one of the best preserved. There you can find the Iberian settlement of San Antonio, one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the area. In addition, this is a region with a fantastic gastronomic: Casquetas (traditional pasta), the delicious cheese from La Fresneda, oils and wines from Calaceite, Teruel ham and honey and almonds from Valderrobres.

Matarraña has another valuable treasure: its hotels located in the countryside. Consolation Hotel is a wonderful and funny place located in Monroyo. The building is inspired by the architecture of Craig Ellwood, a mixture between Mies van der Rohe's rationalism and the soft sprit from Californian.
